This privacy policy applies to the app “Meal of Fortune” (the “app”) and describes how we collect, use, and share user and device data. You can also view this policy inside the app under Profile → Settings → Privacy policy.
We collect only what is needed to run the app:
Account information: If you sign in, we collect and store your email address and a secure representation of your password. We may also store a display name (username) and optional bio and profile photo that you provide.
Meal and calendar data: Meals you save, calendar entries, reminders, and preferences (e.g. dietary restrictions, favorite cuisines) that you add in the app.
Social and group data: Groups you create or join, meal suggestions and votes in voting sessions, friend connections, and friend code if you choose to use it. Visibility of some of this data to other users is controlled by you in Profile → Settings → Privacy.
Device and app usage: We use local storage on your device (e.g. for your session and preferences). If you enable push notifications, we use the necessary device identifiers to deliver them. We do not collect SMS, call log, or contacts.
We use the data above to provide the app (e.g. saving meals, running groups and voting, showing your calendar), to improve the product, and to send you transactional or optional messages (e.g. email verification, password reset, push reminders you set). We do not use your data for advertising.
We do not sell your personal data. We share data only as follows:
Service providers: We use third-party services (e.g. Supabase) to host and process data on our behalf so the app can work. These providers are bound by agreements that limit how they may use your data.
Other users: Depending on your privacy settings, other users may see your display name, friend code, group membership, or meal suggestions and votes. You can control visibility in Profile → Settings → Privacy.
We do not share your data with advertising networks or data brokers.
This app does not contain ads. We do not use third-party ad SDKs or show banner, interstitial, or native ads.
We do not request or use high-risk or sensitive permissions such as SMS or Call Log. The app may request:
Network: To sync your data and sign in.
Storage (on device): To keep your session and preferences (e.g. theme) on your device.
Camera / photo library (optional): Only if you choose to add a profile photo; you can skip this.
Notifications (optional): Only if you enable reminders or other push notifications; you can turn these off in device or app settings.
This app is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected such information, please contact us and we will delete it.
You can:
Control what other users see via Profile → Settings → Privacy (e.g. friend code, dietary preferences, profile visibility).
Delete your account from within the app (e.g. via Profile → Settings → Account), which removes your account and associated data from our systems.
Request access to or deletion of your data by using “Report a problem” or “Contact support” under Help & Support in the app.
You can permanently delete your account and all associated data at any time from within the app:
Open the app and sign in.
Go to Profile (bottom tab), then tap Settings.
Tap Account.
Tap Delete account at the bottom of the list.
In the confirmation dialog, tap Delete to confirm. This action cannot be undone; your account and data will be removed from our systems.
We use industry-standard practices to protect your data (e.g. encryption in transit and secure storage). No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure; we encourage you to use a strong password and keep your sign-in details private.
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of the app after changes means you accept the updated policy. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
If you have questions about this policy or your data, use “Report a problem” or “Contact support” from Help & Support in the app, or contact us through the support channel provided in the app or on the store listing.
